Thank you for writing this, Father. So many excellent points. I would like to add only that we're given choice to look outward toward faith even at the point of death. I'm always amazed by the example of St. Dismas, who only saw and acknowledged Christ while hanging next to him on the cross. The vastness of God's mercy actually staggers my mind.
